Joaquin Capa was born in Santander, Spain in 1941. He Studied at the School of Fine Arts, Madrid, 1965-1970. Capa explored new techniques in printmaking at the Atelier 17 of W.S. Hayer in Paris, 1975-1976. He also studied Philosophy in Madrid and Rome, Architecture in Madrid, and the Sociology of Art in Paris. Capa taught at the University of Barody, India as a visiting professor, 1983-1989-1990. Capa was the Head of (beca) the Juan March Foundation, 1975-1976. Head of (beca) the Ministry of Culture, 1983-1984. He won first Prize at the International Biennial at Bhopal, India, 1989.
Joaquin Capa's work has the elegance and passion of the great Abstract Expressionists. Color, form and rhythm are masterfully handled in works of richness and complexity. This richness is of the world and of the artist who has traveled widely, and studied intensively.

Capa is widely regarded as one of Spain’s most important contemporary abstract artists: his work is represented in the permanent collections of many major museums in North America and Europe.
